From the e-Activity and this week’s readings, analyze the effectiveness of the NAACP and the club movement in furthering the goal of equality for African-Americans. Provide specific examples of the tools that these two (2) groups used in order to confront segregation in U.S. society. . Take a look at the video below about the Tulsa Race Riot and then read the linked document. Evaluate whether or not respectability politics forged unity or dissention among activists back then or even today.
In responding to this week’s questions students need to keep in mind that these are “mini essays” more than “discussions”. This is the only opportunity that students will have to demonstrate their command of the topics under discussion, so every student should make these responses count. This applies to the classmate response as well.
