Field tests are used in a qualitative study where a researcher intends to collect data using a questionnaire or interview questions with open-ended items, the researcher cannot statistically test the validity and reliability of questions. In these cases, the researcher will typically “field test” the instrument, which involves taking the instrument into the field to identify problems that could be experienced by respondents during the actual study. To field test an instrument, the researcher may strategically select a very small number of individuals, say 3-5 people, who have expert knowledge about the population and research topic to provide feedback on the appropriateness of the questions being asked and how the questions are being asked in relation to the study focus and with the proposed sample. These experts are not answering the questions on the questionnaire or interview so they are not providing data (Retrieved from https://research.phoenix.edu/news/irb-corner-august-2015).

Explain in detail your field test procedures. Who will participate in the field test? How will participants be contacted regarding the field test? Will the field test be scheduled? Where will the field test take place? How long will the field test take? How will the data from the field test be used?

Include your own experience as well as two citations that align with or contradict your comments as sourced from peer-reviewed academic journals, industry publications, books, and/or other sources. Cite your sources using APA formatting.

If you found contradicting information to what your experience tells you, explain why you agree or disagree with the research.
