Colonialism and the Subjugation of Africa

The touchstone of Pan-African and Afrocentric historical narratives of the Afro-European colonial encounter is that even though Africans were defeated and pacified by European colonizers, they defended their land and acquitted themselves in anti-colonial battles as best as they could. In your view, would you say/argue that this is a correct assessment of what transpired when Europeans set out to colonize Africa? Your response should be based on material found between pages 197-231 of Molefi Kete Asante’s The History of Africa: The Quest for Eternal Harmony (2015). Also, references from another resources is appreciated
