Explain how you would prepare your client for this trial

Consider that you are a defense attorney who has recently taken on a new client, G. Mitchel. G. Mitchel, a 17-year old, has been arrested for causing an accident that resulted in the death of another driver and her four-year old son. Mitchel was texting while driving and crossed the double yellow lines, striking the other car.

Develop an assignment that prepares Mitchel for court and addresses the following points:

1) Initially, prosecutors changed Mitchel as minor due to his age. Explain how you would prepare your client for this trial. What should he expect for the trial and sentencing?

2) The following week, you learn that the prosecutors have decided to charge him as an adult. What are the differences in the trials of minors and adults? How could the sentencing phase also be different?

3) In your opinion, should teenagers accused of crimes be tried as adults? Why, or why not?

Your completed response should be a minimum of two pages in length. You are required to use a minimum of two outside sources, one in which may be the course textbook.

All sources used, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA standards.
