Explain the concept of this quote and apply it to a modern socio-political or economic situation.

“The mode of production in material life determines the general character of the social, political, and spiritual processes of life. It is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but, on the contrary, their social existence determines their consciousness.” This quote is from the preface to A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy by Karl Marx. Is this quote true? The quote basically says that society and external factors determines how you act. We don’t create society; society makes us. We create the society that makes us.I would possibly like to backfire this idea with the concept of art, if possible. We must explain the quote, show an understanding of basic Marxist theory, critically apply those theories to any modern situation (socio-political or economic), and argue for or against the concept as an accurate interpretation of that modern situation. At least 2-3 pages.
