Research Proposal Two FULL PAGES is enough

TOPIC

This is a Research Proposal, meaning that this will be your first step in creating the Final Research Paper, which is worth 25% of your Final Grade. Any material generated for the Research Proposal can and should be used on the Final Research Paper.

RULES FOR THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL

  • The topic of the research proposal is up to you; this will be the topic you use on your Final Research Paper.
    • The topic is subject to my approval; you may go against my criticisms, but you do so at the risk of the grade for this assignment and your FInal Reserach Paper.
    • Choose a topic within your major OR a topic about which your are passionate; if it’s not important to you, the writer, it won’t be important to me, the grader.
    • No abortion papers, no medical marijuana papers (though legalization may be considered), no cloning papers, no papers that would be suitable for a high school English class
  • Your topic requires any combination of the following elements:
    • An argument with one specific subject and one specific treatment;
    • A definition of one specific term or phrase;
    • A comparison and/or constrast with one specific similaritiy and one specific difference;
    • A cause-and-effect with one specific cause and one specific effect as a focus;
    • An analysis of tesimony from one specific source OR a comparison and contrast between two sources with one specific similarity and one specific difference.
  • Your Proposal must contain the following
    • An explanation of your topic and how it meets the guidelines above AND a temporary, working thesis;
    • A one paragraph explanation as to why you choose this topic;
    • A one paragraph explanation of why an audience should be concerned about your topic;
    • A brief annotated bibliography of 3 print sources related to your topic, detailing the author(s) and title and explaning what each source is about and how it contributes to your paper.

THESIS

Your thesis is up to you, but remember it must have any combination of the following elements:

  • An argument with one specific subject and one specific treatment;
  • A definition of one specific term or phrase;
  • A comparison and/or constrast with one specific similaritiy and one specific difference;
  • A cause-and-effect with one specific cause and one specific effect as a focus;
  • An analysis of tesimony from one specific source OR a comparison and contrast between two sources with one specific similarity and one specific difference.

SOURCES

Sources for the Research Proposal must adhere to the following:

  • You must include at least 3 other print sources.
    • These must have original page numbers from their original publication.
    • You will need at least one Book and at least one Academic Article.
    • Books and E-books must be obtain through the SAC Library
    • All Academic Journal articles must be obtained through the SAC Library; articles found on EBSCOhost will count as print sources if an only if they are in PDF form.
  • NO other websites, dictionaries, encyclopedias, or Media Sources such as documentaries and interviews are permitted for the Research Proposal; this will change in the Final Research Essay.
  • NO sources obtained through Google and Wikipedia.

LENGTH

The essay should be no longer than 2-3 pages. Your essay must be a minimum of 2 Full pages and 5 complete paragraphs
