INTRODUCTION
In our capitalist society, we are constantly being sold products and commodities. Commercials are one way we experience this and are a part of social life we often fast forward or ignore. This assignment will ask you to tune into the larger social meaning within these recent television commercials.
DIRECTIONS
Watch both commercials provided in the links below. Write a list for each commercial stating the overt, intended message of the advertisement (ie what was it selling) and the subtle messages within the advertisement (ie what social and cultural meanings does it rely on, what does it tell us about our society). Please title each list to identify which commercial you are analyzing.
