Congresswoman Lauren Underwood represents the 14th Congressional District of Illinois and the 116th U.S. is sworn in on January 3, 2019, Senate. As a first millennial, Underwood the first woman to represent her race in Congress, the first person of color. She is also African American’s first woman to sit in the House of Representatives of the United States. Congresswoman Underwood partnered with a Medicaid program in Chicago prior to her election to Congress to ensure it offered high-quality, cost-effective coverage. She worked in the U.S. as a senior consultant. She was involved in Health and Human Services Department (HHS), helping communities across the country to avoid, plan and respond to disasters, threats to bioterrorism and emergencies in public health.
