For Essay Four, students will be asked to do the following: select two short stories from

our textbook

compare and contrast the use and effect of one component of the story (setting–or

an aspect of the setting, POV, character/s, plot (vs story), etc…) and how that the

authors’ this component uniquely contributes to the poem’s overall meaning or

theme–its unique message to the reader

 develop your thesis in your body paragraphs by using strong topic sentences and

textual evidence

 make your 4-page long and use MLA essay formatting and documentation, including

in-text citations and a Works Cited page

 taking into consideration my annotations and suggestions from previous essays

 use Grammarly.com to check for style and mechanical issues before you submit to

Canvas

 check your Vericite score before you submit the final draft–make sure your score is

10% or below.
