Social Media Journal Project

VISC 205 SOCIAL MEDIA JOURNALS OBJECTIVE:​Many visual communications jobs are expanding to include social media. If your boss came back from a conference and asked you to set up a company presence on the social media network that’s currently all the rage, could you do it? That’s what this assignment will challenge you to do. 

Make sure to include the date on each of your journal entries. Each day’s journal is worth 10 points for a total of 50 points. 

DAY 1​: Set up your own Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram accounts​. You can make it @visc205studentbirnell. . Find a minimum of 20 brands or personalities to follow on each account. Possible options include your favorite clothing company, your favorite actor/actress, your favorite restaurant.

JOURNAL ENTRY: Spend some time looking at the posts from the accounts you’ve followed and then write a brief journal entry documenting your initial impressions of each platform. (Minimum one paragraph).

 DAY 2: JOURNAL ENTRY: Choose a (school­appropriate) company that has a presence on all three platforms and describe how they’re using each platform for marketing and branding purposes. (minimum one page typed)

Day 4: JOURNAL ENTRY: Use each platform to find inspiration for a future project. Maybe it’s an article about business plans on Twitter or a font you like on Pinterest or signage on Instagram. Describe your findings. (Minimum one page typed).

 Day 5: JOURNAL ENTRY: Reflect on your experience with this project. What did you learn? What do you like about each platform? What do you dislike? Would you continue using them for business/personal use? (Minimum one page typed)
