An important role of nursing is to provide health promotion and disease prevention. Review the 2020 Topics and Objectives on the Healthy People website. Choose a topic of interest that you would like to address, in conjunction with a population at-risk for the associated topic. Submit the topic and associated group to your instructor for approval.

Create a 15-20-slide PowerPoint presentation for your topic and focus group. Include speaker notes and citations for each slide, and create a slide at the end for References.

Address the following:

1. Describe the approved topic and associated population your group has selected. Discuss how this topic adversely affects the population. How does health disparity affect this population?
2. Explain evidence-based approaches that can optimize health for this population. How do these approaches minimize health disparity among affected populations?
3. Outline a proposal for health education that can be used in a family-centered health promotion to address the issue for the target population. Ensure your proposal is based on evidence-based practice.
4. Present a general profile of at least one health-related organization for the selected focus topic. Present two resources, national or local, for the proposed education plan that can be utilized by the provider or the patient.
5. Identify interdisciplinary health professionals important to include in the health promotion. What is their role? Why is their involvement significant?

Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and public health content.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style 

The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize students with health reform strategies adopted by states. Students will select a state health policy reform innovation and describe the rationale, how it was adopted (e.g., federal waivers, passage by state legislature), the funding structure, and (to the extent statistical data are available) its impact. Students should summarize their findings in a 1-2 page, single-spaced memo. 

A few examples of state innovations include Vermont’s single payer system, Massachusetts’ health reforms and Kentucky’s Medicaid healthcare program (none of these can be used).

2. Purpose is clear. Clearly presents a main idea and supports it throughout the paper.

3. Well-planned and well-thought out. Includes title, introduction, statement of main idea, transitions and conclusion.

4. Exceptionally well-presented and argued; ideas are detailed, well-developed, supported with specific evidence & facts, as well as examples and specific details.

5. Sources are exceptionally well-integrated and they support claims argued in the paper very effectively. Quotations and Works Cited conform to MLA style sheet.

6. Excellent grammar, spelling, syntax and punctuation.

7. Uses APA guidelines accurately and consistently to cite sources and formatting

Using the Practicum Experience for Professional Growth

Your practicum experiences in NURS 8410, NURS 8400, and NURS 8500 have provided opportunities to gain knowledge, perspective, and skills that bolster your specialty area practice. They have laid a foundation for reflecting on your own strengths and challenges as a scholar-practitioner and a nurse leader in a dynamic workplace. Indeed, significant self-analysis is a core aspect of this course, and you will be asked to integrate this type of reflection into your work on several assignments in the upcoming weeks.

This Discussion serves as a springboard for the Practicum assignment you are to develop this week. As you plan your practicum experience for this course, consider how you can effectively communicate with key stakeholders in your practicum setting regarding the implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of an evidence-based project.

To prepare:

• View      and consider the “To prepare” section of the Week 1 Assignment area.
• Reflect      on your practicum experiences in NURS 8410, NURS 8400, and NURS 8500.
• Assess      the professional growth (including development of leadership and      communication skills) you have achieved through previous practicum      experiences in the DNP program. Also, think about the topics presented in      courses you completed earlier in the program. Are there content areas or      skills that you would like to—or may need to—address to facilitate your continued      development as a scholar-practitioner and a nurse leader?
• Think      about competencies that support the successful implementation, evaluation,      and dissemination of an evidence-based project, and assess your strengths      and areas for growth with regard to these competencies.
• Begin      to develop your plan for the practicum, including two or three learning      objectives.

By tomorrow Tuesday May 28, 2019 write a minimum of 550 words essay in APA format with at least three scholarly references. Include the level one header as numbered below:

· Chapter 1, “Getting Started”

This chapter introduces the steps an author can follow in planning, writing, and publishing manuscripts in nursing. The chapter predominantly focuses on early writing decisions.

· Chapter 2, “Selecting a Journal” 

Chapter 2 focuses on how to evaluate and select journals. The chapter also provides guidelines for writing a query letter to gauge the interest of journal editors.

· Chapter 4, “Reviewing the Literature” 

In this chapter, the authors make suggestions for conducting and writing a literature review for a manuscript. 

Keep in mind that, as noted in Chapter 4, the Literature Review section of an article for publication must be tailored for that format; it is not the same as for an academic paper.
