What is an operating system

To those who transported goods with arms and legs, the wheel appeared to be high technology at one point in time

To those who transported goods with arms and legs, the wheel appeared to be high technology at one point in time. Today, technology is all around us—and we need to learn how to use the new technologies in ways that make our tasks easier. For this class, we will focus on digital information technologies we use for school and daily life.

Considering how different people use and respond to technology, answer the following questions:

  • Describe how you use information in your daily life. Specifically, how do you use technology in your communications, whether at work, home, or school?
  • How has the World Wide Web and accompanying technologies (cell phones, e-mail, social media, etc.) changed the way society works with, handles, and interprets information?
  • Does computer ownership affect your ability to communicate?

Consider the following when answering:

  • What is an operating system? What operating system is on your computer? (To answer this question, search for “operating systems” on the Internet. Based on the information that is displayed on the screen, identify which operating system is on your computer.)
  • What is RAM? How much RAM do you have on your computer? (To answer this question, search for “system properties” within your computer system; this will tell you how much RAM you have in your system.) Can you update your RAM on the computer you have? (To find out this information, you can do either of the following:
    1. Visit the website of the company that made your computer and search for this information.
    2. Call a local store that sells computers and tell the executives there that you want to upgrade your RAM and you want to know if it is possible with the computer system you have.)
  • What is software? What software packages do you have on your computer that will help you with college? (To find out about this, you can call a local store that sells computers and ask them to assist you in finding this answer. You can also look at the “Programs” or “All Programs” folder on your computer and list out the programs you have.)

You will need to do research outside of this course to justify, support, and expand on your response.  APA format

Your initial response should be at least 150 words

Emotional intelligence and leadership

In this assignment, you will be creating a personality portfolio based on the results of your six leadership assessments that you self-select via an Internet search

In this assignment, you will be creating a personality portfolio based on the results of your six leadership assessments that you self-select via an Internet search. The importance of knowing your leadership style, strengths, weaknesses, and which style is best suited for managing change will be imperative to your success in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology, whatever role you take on.

Specifically, write an 8- to 10-page report including the following:

  • Self-select six leadership assessments via an Internet search. Take the assessments and identify trends and patterns in your strengths and weaknesses indicated by the results of the assessments. Describe these patterns and trends in your report. You must choose assessments that include:
    • Leadership and ethics
    • Emotional intelligence and leadership
    • Diversity and leadership
    • Leadership styles
    • And two other choices**
  • Develop an action plan to address the weaknesses you discovered and how you might use your strengths to overcome the weaknesses.
  • Identify a leadership style that is best suited for managing organizational change. Compare and contrast your style with this leadership profile best suited for managing change in organizations.
  • Indicate to your potential client why your leadership style is best suited for this company (identify one or use your first scenario in RA 1), including how you could be successful in assisting with managing change within the company.

Your final deliverable should be an 8- to 10-page document in Microsoft Word, utilizing a minimum of eight scholarly sources. The use of a table to display assessment results is encouraged. Apply APA standards for citations and references on slides.

** Free leadership assessments found online do not always publish reliable and valid data. In practice, as an industrial/organizational (I/O) professional, you will always want to ensure that you use measures that are appropriate for your sample and purpose. Equally important, you will want to ensure that the measures you are using have established reliability and validity. Frequently, these types of measures require usage fees. For convenience and to avoid potential fees, this assignment is allowing you to use free online leadership assessments.

Motivation theories

Discuss the motivational process of both the chief executive officer (CEO) implementing the change and the leaders and employees being persuaded to accept said change. Provide recommendations to further motivate the leaders and employees to accept said change. Be sure to include how you will measure employee motivation.

In this discussion, be sure to address the following questions:

  • What is the name of your company (unless you are using your employer), and what is the current change being resisted?
  • Why is the change being resisted?
  • What is the current motivational process of the chief executive officer (CEO) to effect the change?
  • What is the current motivational process of the leaders and employees to accept the change?
  • Which motivational theory best describes how to move your chosen company forward with the change identified? Describe the theory.
  • What recommendations do you have, as an industrial/organizational (I/O) professional, to further motivate the leaders and employees?

Review and Research of Childhood Influences

Review and Research of Childhood Influences

In M1: Assignment 2, you examined an important factor contributing to a child’s success. Now with your understanding that there are many different areas of impact within the realms of family, peers, school, and community, it is helpful to explore your own experience and reaction to some of these areas of influence. It is very common for our own experiences as a child to significantly impact our interactions with children, if we are not first aware of our beliefs and reactions.Based on your review of the influences of family, peers, schools, and community, respond to the following:

  • Looking back at your own experiences and influences, analyze which of these influences had the biggest impact on your own development when you were a child or adolescent. Give reasons for your answer.
  • How has this impact (for example, family or peer situation, community influence, or school environment) been influenced by the various adults in your life (parents, teachers, coaches)?
  • Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research your findings further. Respond to the following:
    • Explain how your biggest influence aligns with the research. Incorporate information from at least two academic sources to support your statements and ideas. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this module, or academic journal articles found in the Argosy University online library.
    • Who are the major proponents (theorists past or current) of your chosen influence and how did they reach these conclusions?
  • Ask two adults what or who had the most impact on them. Compare this self-report data with your experience and your research about prominent influences.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Be sure to include separate title and reference pages. Apply APA standards to citation of sources, including use of in-text citations and full references. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this module, or academic journal articles found in the Argosy University online library.

Recipe for success

Recipe for success

Every individual approaches life and situations differently. We all use communication as a means to express ourselves. However, communication is as much about listening as it is about talking. Communication is a mutual exchange.Everyone has had a disagreement with someone in which the other person may respond with “You aren’t listening to me!” or “You don’t understand me!” The fact is, you are not validating the other person or are perceived as someone who is not providing validation. Validation can defuse a potentially explosive scenario.Consider your personal experiences and communication skills.  Write your responses in two to three paragraphs. Be sure to incorporate terms, concepts, and theory from your readings to support your comments.

  • (Paragraph one) What are the skills you use to communicate and how do they impact your interactions with others?
  • (Paragraph two) How do you plan to manage conflict communication?
  • Do you set a goal for the outcome you are seeking to achieve?
  • Do you consider your audience?
  • What point of view do you try to convey?
  • What is your message or argument in communication?
  • Have you ever applied the principles above? Have they worked for you? If not, what has worked for you?

I have already answered the first question and attached it to the post.

When it comes to the skills I use to communicate with others, it varies depending on the situation;however, the most common ones are active listening, mindfulness, empathy and being mindful of my body language (non-verbal communication). All of these impact my interactions more positively than negative in a way to where I am able to build healthier relationships for personal and business purposes. Being conscious of how we communicate with others takes a large effort that essentially affects our reputation. When people choose to lack consciousness that is a way of non-verbally saying we don’t care how others fee

Organizational changes

The Organizational Development Professional

Organizational Development (OD) professionals implement and oversee programs that increase efficiency, strengthen employee knowledge and abilities, improve leadership, and maintain the overall health of a company. Often, they engage in work with top executives of the organization in diagnosing problems and setting company goals. One of the most important responsibilities of the organizational development (OD) professional is to help employees adjust to organizational changes.

Bureau of Labor Statistics, US Department of Labor (2012) predicts faster-than-average job growth for human resource occupations, including training and development professions such as organizational development (OD).

Explore employment opportunities and careers for organizational development (OD) professionals. On the basis of your research, respond to the following:

  • List three to five job titles for organizational development (OD) professionals.
  • Find three to five industries offering positions for organizational development (OD) professionals and cite relevant job postings.
  • Select the job that most interests you and describe the essential job functions and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs).
  • Discuss how you might be qualified (or become qualified) to apply for the job.
